Library Committee

The Library Committee within a college oversees library management, development, and enhancement. Comprised of faculty, librarians, and sometimes student representatives, its primary goal is to ensure the library effectively supports the institution's academic mission. Responsibilities include establishing and reviewing library policies, managing budgets for acquisitions and technology upgrades, and assessing and developing the library's collection to meet the evolving needs of the college community. The committee monitors and improves library services such as reference assistance, interlibrary loans, and instructional sessions. It also addresses infrastructure and technology needs, recommending renovations, equipment upgrades, and implementing new technologies to enhance services. Promoting library resources and services through events and campaigns is essential for raising awareness and encouraging usage. Additionally, the committee ensures compliance with regulations, copyright laws, and ethical standards. Providing guidance on issues like intellectual freedom and privacy safeguards the integrity of library operations. Regular evaluations and assessments of library programs and services inform decision-making, ensuring alignment with academic goals and enhancing the overall quality of the college experience.
